This Spring and Summer hairstyling trends run the gamut from coiffured looks set with hot rollers or a big barrel curling iron to much more relaxed styling with loose, purposely disheveled waves and curls.  Relaxed Styling is this seasons much beloved trend due to it’s casual look and ease of styling execution.

Interestingly it’s an extremely easy styling routine for 2nd day or late in the day hair and in fact helps zero in on the “just woke up” look this trend exudes.  Relaxed Styling can be simple for guests to recreate with the right products and “post” styling process.  Let’s explain…

We also recommend working with clean airdried hair or with late in the day or 2nd day hair.  This helps give the hair a little texture to pull off this easy styling technique.  First, choose your product.  We recommend either our P2 by Philip Pelusi RefresHair Texture Treatment and Tela Beauty Organics by Philip Pelusi Dri Shampoo for texture and hair refreshing.  There is a bit of functionality crossover but also some definite difference between these two products.

Our P2 RefresHair Texture Treatment refreshes hair’s scent with White Tea and Thyme while helping to remove up to 50% of surface debris and adding texture to this styling trend.  A win, win for reviving late in the day or 2nd or 3rd day hair aligning perfectly with this low maintenance trend.

This lightweight spray is a multitask product leaving hair shiny, full of body, with none of the dusty residue of powder dry shampoo products.  Mist on and brush or scrunch through hair.  P2 RefresHair also works great as a setting, holding and heat protecting spray as well and you will get a little hold from this product.

Our Tela Dri Shampoo is a powder-free alternative to dry shampoos.  Philip created this easy to use spray-on version to help eliminate surface debris, add texture and freshen hair’s scent with Organic Lavender.  Plus, powerful antioxidants Organic Reishi Mushroom, Oolong Tea, Chinese Foxglove and White Tea help prevent hair color fadage.  Mist on and scrunch or brush through the hair until the proper level of texture is achieved.  It has a very light hold, remaining soft and pliable.

Now for the technique.  One of the easiest ways to pull off this look is with a few big bobby pins or electric roller clips if those are more readily available.  Moving in sections around the head, grab a section of hair and lightly mist 1 – 2 times with your Philip Pelusi product of choice.  Then loosely twist the section and then wrap it around into its own loose bun, pin the end into place or secure with a big electric roller clip.

Keep in mind the smaller the section the tighter the waves.  Also the more layers you have the more sections you will need to make and last, the thicker the hair the more sections you will need to create.  Also if you want a little height and volume, create those sections to sit right down the center top of your head, putting one in the crown and 1 or 2 more in the middle and front of your hair.

Tela Dri Shampoo and P2 RefresHair both air dry in a few minutes, so put on your makeup, get dressed or eat breakfast to multitask while these sections dry.  And yes, 110% you can use a low setting on your hairdryer to help with this process.  Remove the clips and you are off to a great day or evening with loose relaxed waves or curls, lookin’ good!
