The Chic Geek – Proteins Part I

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek

This is the first post in a series about protein in the hair; the good, the bad and the best.  Philip’s philosophy has always been to think of hair like a fine garment and to teach our guests to treat their hair like the finest garment they own.  A fine garment and hair have a lot in common.  Just like an expensive cashmere sweater, hair is also an investment.  Guests invest in their hair every month in the salon with haircuts, color and texture services.  It is the “garment” they wear the most frequently as we all do wear their hair every day.  And just like the cashmere sweater, hair is made up of fibers, not cashmere fibers, but instead keratin protein makes up the cortex and cuticle of the hair.  And just like any kind of fabric, with more wear the more those fibers are weakened or lost.  So, the question is how do we maintain the keratin protein fibers in hair to keep it strong, shiny and protect color and texture investments?  How do we preserve the fabric?  We’ll explore this fascinating and complex subject and how Philip Pelusi’s products hold the key in this series of Chic Geek posts!  Stay tuned!
