Buzzworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Just Wingin’ It!

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

From the creative genius of Philip Pelusi Creative Director Jeffrey Reitz!  Presenting the Duck Parade at Philip Pelusi!  This cool team building exercise was Jeffrey’s brainchild to boost Designer creativity and just plain have fun, creating these unique looks of duck couture and coiffure.

Jeffrey R with Jean Paul Goosier and then Philip Pelusi Designer Teri H at NYC Fashion Week

Everything including hair, makeup and clothing, each salon was assigned a duck to create a unique look in homage to many popular superstars of that era.

The whole gaggle at The Philip Pelusi Center for Talent Development

The Philip Pelusi Salon Design Teams created Duckatella Vesace, Vera Wing, Karl Duckerfeld, Christian Duckboutin, Duck Dior, Duck Gaultier, Ducky Cleopatra in honor of Beyoncé’s character as Foxxy Cleopatra in the then popular movie Austin Powers, plus a duck created in Philip’s likeness (2nd duck from the right on the top row).  Check out the Philip-esque hair, spectacles, and suit!

And kudos, the images were published in Modern Salon and American Salon magazines and the ducks went on tour to NYC Mercedes Benz Fashion week presented at the Tela Design Studio!

Designer and Talent Development Trainer Regina at The Block was part of salon team participants and still absolutely raves about the event.

Regina shares, “We all had a blastRoss Park (now The Block) was inspired by Victoria Secret’s fantasy angel wings and diamonds.  We were all given just a plain white lawn duck.  Each salon had one and I remember meeting up a few times to work on it.  It was team building because we all worked together and it got the creative juices flowing.  I think there might have been some hair and craft stuff to choose from at The Philip Pelusi Center for Talent Development but I think we went to Michaels and other craft stores to get supplies.  We had a lot of fun doing this project and it was hilarious presenting them.”

A Philip Pelusi Micro Class – Certified Organic Baobab Seed Oil

Posted on Posted in Micro Classes

Certified Organic Baobab Seed Oil is a unique and extremely beneficial ingredient in many Philip Pelusi P2 and Tela products such as P2 Clenz Crème and Tela Frizz Buster just to name two!

Baobab Seed Oil is a cold-pressed oil rich with Vitamin D3 and Fatty Acids Palmitic, Linoleic, Oleic, Alpha Linolenic and Stearic Acids, nourishes and moisturizes hair and scalp without weighing down hair’s volume.  Baobab Seed Oil also helps reduce frizz and creates shine.

Philip’s source for this ingredient insists on only organic, hand-picked ingredients from sustainably sourced, small community farms where the Baobab Tree grows most often in Africa and Brazil.  The Baobab Tree, also known as the upside-down tree or “Tree of Life” most often found in Madagascar and throughout the continent of Africa.

It is duly named because of its many uses from bark being woven into rope, its fruits and leaves being eaten as salad, as medicine to alleviate digestive issues and even the hull of a dead Baobab Tree being used as shelter.  The sustainably harvested Baobab fruits has also helped support the livelihood of the local communities where these trees grow.

Trend Alert ~ Face Framing Accents

Posted on Posted in Trend Alerts

by Nikki ~ Product Education Director

Stunning blonde bobs, innovation, and value rule Spring 2025 trends!  It seems like guests are ready for more this Spring season, more of everything.  More value for their dollar, more ingredient innovation, more panache in their look, and they are even up for more styling to achieve it too.  We are up for the task at Philip Pelusi with several hopeful predictions for Spring 2025.

Chantilly Blonde Hair and Photo by Philip Pelusi

We are seeing today’s savvy consumer looking for high quality, transformative ingredients and products.  And even if they prefer to streamline their purchasing, they are not swayed by price as long as they get an incredible product with great results.  But products and services must deliver, period.

We are also feeling that ‘back to business’ attitude when it comes to our guests’ attitude toward recreated current trends for their own look.  Despite the last several years where style took a backseat, today’s guests are getting their style on craving customized blonde hued precision bobs with all the face framing bling they can get.

Face Framing Accents Hair and Photo by Philip Pelusi

Put the playful 1990’s updos worn by Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, and Gwen Stephani into a time machine and viola’ we’ve got this eclectic hair crafting trend for this Spring, Face Framing Accents.  This look includes 90’s-esque “money” pieces framing left and right sides of face combined with a center part and a 90’s inspired spiked updo.

Or playful pieces from the hairline sculpted directly onto the face, into whimsical shapes such as spirals and curls.  Or any style bangs from long fringy to short micro bangs.  It’s all about adorning or framing the face.

So some products are in order to sculpt and shape these face framing accents.  If a slick but firm look is desired, we are recommending an ultra-firm gel such as our unique P2 by Philip Pelusi Hard Stuff Crystal Gloss and Groom, 7 times stronger than gels on the market.

Much of this excellent hold results from its Calcium and Magnesium content in a delivery system in which these usually insoluble ions are solubilized via fermentation in the presence of Brewer’s Yeast, thereby creating a firm hold that requires less fixative polymer and results in less cosmetic weight on the hair.

P2 Hard Stuff can be used for any crisp finish face framing accent whether those details are styled with wet or dry hair.  And the bonus is its incredible Lemon Grass fragrance.

If a more flexible hold is desired, we’re reaching for our newly reformulated P2 by Philip Pelusi Honey Molding Beeswax.  This formulation is now Silicone Free and Vegan, containing the technological wonders, Synthetic Beeswax, Milk Thistle Ester, and fortified with the Levan-based Prebiotic Vegan Honey substitute which actually surpasses the moisturization and heat protection benefits of our original P2 Honey formula.

Synthetic Beeswax, an alternative to natural beeswax, interestingly cannot be classified as “Vegan” as this terminology primarily pertains to food.  But bottom line, we are thrilled with its performance on the hair and our Stylists and guests agree.  P2 Honey maintains the silky smooth texture of natural honey but without the stickiness.  But this updated P2 Honey formula does not contain any actual honey but instead several Natural Sugars, one a prebiotic polysaccharide obtained from sugar cane.  These natural sugars mimic the benefits of honey increasing moisture retention, heat styling protection and creating shine.

Milk Thistle Seed Oil in its Ethyl Ester form contains lubricious and hydrating triglycerides that help provide a silky soft feel to the hair as well as weightless heat protection.  Plus, this Milk Thistle Oil derivative has antioxidative properties to help prevent color fadage, and when combined with our Hydro Charged Pelusi Ceramide Complex (Ceramide II) forms a delivery system to penetrates past hair’s cuticle layer, amplifying benefits as mentioned above.  We also added our signature White Tea and Thyme Fragrance to give this updated P2 Honey a light and lovely scent.

The change from “silicones” in P2 Honey to non-silicone alternates allows us to maximize its content and activity in a way not achievable with silicone bases.  All of these ingredients provide even better hydration, heat protection, and style ability to the hair.  And they give the product a much easier to work with smoother, creamier, and lighter texture while still delivering all the styling benefits P2 Honey loyal customers have come to know and love.

P2 Honey can be used on damp or dry hair, working slowly with fingertip amounts of the product to twist, scrunch, and piece out hair.  P2 Honey is a shapeshifter in that hair can be styled and restyled over and over again perfect for this Face Framing Accent trend.
