A Philip Pelusi “Did You Know?”~ Philip’s First Salon

Philip, tell us about your first Philip Pelusi Salon?

“While I was in beauty school, I worked at a salon in Shadyside doing towels and shampooing.  Guests would request my shampoos and I specialized in hair treatments and scalp massage.  I worked there the whole time I was in beauty school for tips and income and to become comfortable in a salon environment.”

“After I graduated, my first job was at the SAKS Fifth Ave Salon in downtown Pittsburgh.  I was the only Designer ever hired at this prestigious salon right out of Beauty School.  I loved working with clients, everything about the salon/guest experience but I knew I wanted more and had a vision of what I wanted the guest visit to look like, so I opened my first salon.  I wanted to create, not only beautiful hair, but a beautiful business for myself and everyone on my team.  And our journey continues today!” Philip Pelusi

How did your career as a stylist and salon owner get started Philip?

“I dropped out of high school to work as sheet metal worker.  I respected the value of a hard day’s work and earning a paycheck.  I also knew I wanted to do something creative, perhaps in fashion I thought.  Then started attending Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and on my first week I knew I found my calling.  I sold my car to pay for beauty school and started on this exciting journey.  I opened my first salon at the tender age of 20 and still love every minute.  I still have something to say, create and be, so our journey continues!” Philip Pelusi

Congratulations Andrea! You are both an extremely talented Stylist and Consultant!  Incredible product education skills! A role model for everyone!!!

Andrea shares… “One of my longtime guests Heidi at Westmoreland purchased Tela Magic Hair Transformer for the first time last visit. Today she came to her appointment raving about her results and experience using this product at home over the past 6 weeks. Heidi has naturally curly hair and is a faithful user of Tela products and wanted to share her excitement with our new product Magic!”

Her Guest Heidi shares… “After using Magic daily, I noticed my hair had bouncier curls and increased shine. Many people started making comments about how great my curls looked over the next three weeks after my color appointment! The only thing I did differently was add one pump of Magic to my regular regimen of Curl of my Dreams and Healer. I apply my products to wet hair after washing with Tela Curly Shampoo and Conditioner each morning. Ultimately, I noticed my color lasting longer than normal. I love the Tela products because they make my curls look great! Thank you Philip Pelusi for taking the time to make these amazing products!”
