Limitless Bobs

Posted on Posted in Trend Alerts

The classic bob goes to unlimited heights for Fall 2017! One of the most prominent trends in haircutting for this season is Limitless Bobs. Two of the most popular are the Chin Length or Power Bob and second, the Lob which is simply a longer bob. And even though the trend term “Lob” has been out there several seasons, this trend is stronger than ever for Fall 2017.

The Power Bob hits at chin length and can be blown out smooth like the style being worn by Emma Roberts and Ashley Simpson Ross or it can be worn wild and wavy like the style worn by actress and singer Lucy Hale. The Lob’s length hits more around the collarbone area but is rarely worn smooth and instead is worn with light to dramatic waves. Two of the popular Lob styles requested today are those worn by Jenna Dewan Tatum and Kerri Washington.

To keep the look modern, waves should be kept a bit on the messy side with varying sizes and going in both front and back directions. Neat and tidy waves will make the look costume-like and outdated. Limitless Bob styles can be parted in the center, on the side or even diagonally depending on which would most flatter the guest’s facial shape.

We recommend starting off with a hair strengthening shampoo and conditioning duo to give hair the body and structure it needs to hold its bob style. When hair is strong it always performs best, holds a curl and style better and lasts longer throughout the day. Try P2 by Philip Pelusi Long gev ity Shampoo and Long gev ity Conditioner. This incredible duo’s Patent Pending Hydro-charged Pelusi Ceramide Complex mimics the ceramides in the hair helping to strengthen along with helping seal in color to help prevent fading.

Next onto damp hair, apply a combination strengthener and styling groom. Try P2 ReCurl Smart Styling Treatment. This incredibly versatile styling groom contains a proprietary micro-emulsion that works double-time imparting strength while helping hold a style without crispness; just soft moveable hair that’s full of body. This product is perfect for all of today’s Limitless Bobs. Apply small amounts of the highly concentrated P2 ReCurl and blow dry hair smooth or diffused dried into waves. P2 ReCurl works well on any texture. And also serves as a great foundation to help hold waves and curls better so once hair is dry, break out your curling iron and style away.

To finish hair, apply an all-in-one combination shine, color protecting, anti-frizz spray. Try P2 BrilliantHair Anti-frizz Spray and Sun Guard. Its Organic Baobab Oil gives instant shine, moisturize, anti-frizz results plus added heat protection when styling both smooth bobs and wavy lobs!

But protecting and improving the condition of the hair fabric is critical both before and after a Vibrant Color technique is performed.  First, we recommend a personalized color consultation to enhance your skin tone and eye color with your Skill Certified Philip Pelusi Stylist.  That will get your Vibrant Color look off to the right start!  Then for at home maintenance use a super color protecting shampoo and condition, try P2 by Philip Pelusi Fade de Phy Shampoo and Fade de Phy Conditioner.  This duo’s color sealing Willow Bark helps protect from color fadage in between touch ups.

Also, in addition to this traditional approach to cleansing and conditioning, we recommend one of the biggest trends in haircare technology; the no suds skincare cleansing approach to shampooing hair.  Try P2 Clenz Crème No Sudsing Cleansing Conditioner.  Hair is very gently cleansed with Philip’s exclusive Sugar Cane Cleanse micro-emulsion to lightly cleanse surface debris while never leaving hair in a too-clean state to help preserve color.  P2 Clenz Crème is also specially formulated with Philip’s new exclusive Pelusi Bio Polymer Complex containing Organic Baobab Seed Protein and Organic Baobab Seed Oil which comes from sustainably sourced, small community farms where the Baobab Tree grows in Africa to help improve hair’s condition and texture.

Younger Hair Color

Posted on Posted in Trend Alerts

Most of the time when we try to think of way to turn back the clock, a.k.a. look younger, we tend to think of what new skin care cream or cosmetic technique will do the trick. We usually don’t think about hair color but it is actually the fountain of youth! That is, if we follow a few simple guidelines.

You’re are getting warmer! This is one of the cardinal rules of younger looking hair color. Keep color on the warmer side meaning go for warmer reds, caramel brunettes, strawberry and golden blondes. Warmer tones add a youthful glow to the skin and keeps the look soft and not harsh. Cool tones do just the opposite. They don’t give off light but instead look flat making the skin look sallow.

Check the technique! Next consider the application technique. Steer clear of all over monotone, singular colors. This makes the hair look solid as if to absorb light instead of creating movement and reflecting light which is a much more youthful look. Go for face framing highlights that add subtle dimension and bring light or brightness to the face. Stay away from harsh, heavy striped highlights that can look outdated.

Get cashmere quality hair! The most effective way to get younger looking hair color is by seeking the advice of a trained colorist that can advise you not only on the best color for your skin tone and eye color but also on the proper product regimen to get your hair in top notch condition. Healthy hair simply looks younger and just like the proper skin care routine is one of the keys to beautiful skin, the same is true with hair care as well.

From the bowl and beyond! The color bowl that is! Have your colorist add exclusive Tela Beauty

Organics by Philip Pelusi Color Lock to your actual color formula. The advanced technology of specialized big science micro-emulsions, including super strength sunscreens and antioxidants, help prevent color fadage up to 80% in between touch ups. Tela Color Lock also helps buffer the damaging effects of the actual color application helping maintains hair’s strength and integrity.

Also for proper at home maintenance use a super color protecting shampoo and conditioner, try Tela Color Guard Shampoo and Color Guard Conditioner. This duo’s color sealing proprietary Tela Enhancing Blend helps preserve color in between touch ups with powerful antioxidants such as Organic Reishi Mushroom, Chinese Foxglove, Ku Shen and more.

And finally, to help hair color maintain its’ pop in between salons visits, we recommend a color conditioner that adds a boost of color and lots of shine. Try P2 by Philip Pelusi Color Boost Conditioner. It comes in 8 vibrant shades that can used alone or can be custom blended by your Philip Pelusi product expert to support any color. So simple to use, mix a dime to nickel size amount of this flower pigment based product into your instant or deep conditioner 1 or 2 times a week to do the trick. Consult with your stylist on the exact color(s) and use for your own unique color needs.

Fall Buns

Posted on Posted in Trend Alerts

Busy with the rush of back to school preparations or just too busy to schedule your new haircut style for fall? Quick change hairstyles are essential for every busy gal. And today’s new hair sculpting techniques have even more inventive monikers to go with them; i.e. Banana Buns and Octopus Buns!

Banana Buns, the new messy chignon that shaped like a banana, and Octopus Buns, the new messy top knot with dangling tentacles, are the latest out-the-door-fast hairstyles. And both can be created with the same products! So, all you have to do is pick your “bun du jour” and follow a few simple steps to create it. And the good news…neatness doesn’t count! In fact, its encouraged!

First, assemble your tools! Grab your hair freshening spray, pliable molding groom, u-shaped hair pins and a hairband and you are good to go. Try P2 by Philip Pelusi RefresHair. This is a lightweight combination hair refreshing and texturizing spray that leaves hair with the fresh scent of White Tea and Thyme. Meanwhile other key ingredients, like Sunflower Extract, give the hair lots of shine plus this spray gives hair a light textured feel. Mist this all over the hair and lightly scrunch the hair for a minute or two until it dries.

Next, get a bit of styling groom on your fingertips and twist and sculpt your hair. Try P2 Honey. Its Honey humectants hydrate the hair plus provides a never crispy pliable grip to the hair allowing for much easier, and faster, styling.

For a Banana Bun, follow the above steps, then groom the hair into what would first appear to be a traditional, low at the nape, chignon which has a banana-like shape. The difference here is to keep the look purposefully messy, letting pieces fall out and decisively not tucking in loose ends. Pin into place.

For an Octopus Bun, follow the same hair freshening, styling groom and twisting technique but instead aim high on the top of the head like a top knot and secure with a hairband. Twist the hair around the base of the band and as same as the Banana Bun purposefully let the ends stick out. These are the tentacles of the Octopus! Pin the bun into place.

And last, mist both looks all over with the P2 RefresHair to help the looks last all day. This multitask spray not only smells fabulous but also gives hair a light hold, lots of shine plus helps with color protection.
