Can You Ever Use Too Much P2 Xtreme?

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek

Can you ever use too much P2 Xtreme?  Nope!  It’s scientifically impossible!  The hair is like a sponge and can only hold so much of anything applied to it.  Applying too much P2 Xtreme simply wastes the product.  What is needed gets absorbed into the hair fiber and the rest is rinsed away.

Remember application technique is important, cleanse hair, rinse thoroughly, squeeze dripping water, mist on 6 -12 mists of P2 Xtreme Daily Treatment Liquid Repair Spray, apply an instant or deep conditioner, leave on 3 or more then rinse thoroughly!  Start strengthening your hair today with P2 Xtreme!

Fabric Care Tags

The Chic Geek by Nikki ~ Product Education Director

Have you ever read the fabric care tag inside one of your pieces of clothing?  If you have, then you know there are lots of details from the designer or manufacturer about how they want you to care for it.  Dry clean only, cold water, dry flat, cool dryer and so on.

But do humans have these care tags for their hair?!  LOL of course not!  But we really should!  As stylists we have seen it all from dry, broken, over processed hair to texture that needs a little or a lot of help.  So, guests often are not taking care of their hair fabric in the proper way.

That’s where we come in as stylists!  Philip often says “Hair is the most important fabric we wear.  We wear our hair every day!”  So, we see hair fabric as needing and deserving the very best and most detailed care tag.  This comes in the form of our professional consultation and product education, both verbal and written on either the P2 or Tela Concierge Brochures to give to each guest.  How else will they know how to take care of the most important fabric in their wardrobe, their hair!

Philip Pelusi The IPhone of Haircare

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek

The Chic Geek by Nikki ~ Product Education Director

If you are looking at these images of outdated cell phones from decades gone past, you are probably wondering what does this have to do with haircare?  Well, a lot actually!  Most products on the market are still selling the same formulas they created decades ago with perhaps a new fragrance or new ingredient or new model or actress as the spokesperson.  But their formulas are as old and outdated as these crazy looking cell phones, some the size of a shoebox LOL!

Would you purchase one of these today?  The answer of course is NO!  So why should a guest purchase outdated haircare technology?  That is exactly what they are doing when they purchase other products on the marketplace.  Instead, this latest model IPhone would be the tech equivalent to Philip Pelusi products.

The most cutting-edge, revolutionary technology and ingredients that all help create the very best hair fabric possible for the guest.  The best condition, color protection, styling performance, texture, feel and more!  And the better the hair fabric, the better your work looks, and the happier the guest will be with their hair and YOU!

Suds in a Bottle?!

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek, Uncategorized

The Chic Geek by Nikki B. ~ Product Education Director

What does the guest think shampoo is for?  TV commercials, social media and of course the mere suds in their hair understandably make the guest think shampoo is just for cleansing the hair!  But this narrow vision of shampoo, specifically Philip Pelusi shampoos, also creates a narrow or lesser value for those products.  Perhaps in their minds, spending approximately $30 for shampoo to just clean their hair just doesn’t seem worth it.

So how do we broaden their view?  We make shampooing the guest come to life by verbally and tangibly explaining the real value of these products.  We educate the guest about what problems the shampoo and conditioner will help solve and the benefits they have on their hair.  Afterall, we are not selling suds, a.k.a. liquid dish soap or laundry detergent!

Bring the guest into the product.  When the guest is being shampooed their eyes are pointed at the ceiling and cannot see or feel the product or even see any results such as with styling products which are instant gratification!  Show and tell the guest what you are using and why.  Explain that the shampoo you are recommending (and applying) of course gently cleanses their hair and scalp, but these products really are the first “styling” product used on the hair.

Shampoo and conditioner, improve the texture, help protect from color fading, add conditioning elements and literally prepare the hair fabric.  Let them know that the shampoo and conditioner they use will either set them up for styling success or they won’t.  It is all part of the plan and the process to get the style they want!

It’s a simple equation… Volumetric Haircut + Services + Products + Styling Lesson = the guest’s desired style!  And YOU the Philip Pelusi Designer make it happen!

Designers as Condition Teachers – Hair as Fabric

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek

The Chic Geek by Nikki B. ~ Product Education Director

Ever have a guest whose hair is dry, brittle, and damaged?  Yes, course!  We all have.  More than likely they are not aware of how bad off their hair is and have no idea how to turn this damage around.  This seemingly negative starting point is actually a great opportunity to build trust with the guest, create an opportunity to educate products and give the guest a beautiful style!

Philip often says “Hair is the most important fabric we wear.  We wear our hair every day!”  There is so much to this statement but in relation condition we can use this as a teachable moment for the guest.  Try this simple analogy…  Guests are often aware of clothing fabric and especially what older vs newer fabrics can look like.  So, using the following comparison might help guests understand their own hair condition.

Just like a new item of clothing such as a dress shirt or a pair of jeans, the fabric is new, undamaged and looks perfect.  But as we wear those jeans repeatedly and depending on what elements we expose those jeans will greatly affect how they look.  Do we wear those jeans just for special occasions or every day? Do we cleanse them gently and airdry them or do we throw them in the washing machine on the hot setting with any old detergent making that fabric break down over time?

How we treat our clothing fabrics is just like how we treat our hair, the more damaging elements they face the worse the condition.  Most guests understandably have no idea how what products they put on their hair and how they treat it dramatically affects its condition.  This is a perfect platform to then education our guests on what products to use and how to apply them.  And we have our entire service time with each guest to do just that!

Designers as Texture Teachers ~ Hair as Fabric

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek, Uncategorized

The Chic Geek by Nikki ~ Product Education Director

Have you ever had a guest bring in a photo of a hairstyle that simply does not match up with their own hair texture?  Yes, of course!  We all have.  But this seemingly negative starting point is actually a great opportunity to build trust with the guest, educate products, and give the guest a beautiful style!

Philip often says “Hair is the most important fabric we wear.  We wear our hair every day!”  There is so much to this statement but in relation texture we can use this as a teachable moment for the guest.  Guests are at times not aware of how their hair density and texture effects the outcome of their style.  They are also often unaware of how products, including shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, along with the guidance of their Philip Pelusi Designer, can augment or enhance their texture to get the style they want.

Try this simple analogy…  Guests are often aware of clothing fabrics so using the following comparisons may help guests understand their own texture.  Fine hair is often akin to silk, Medium textures to cotton, and Coarser hair types to denim.  For example, a guest with fine silky limp hair might then understand if they apply P2 Increase Smart Styling Treatment, it will give them more structure and volume.

While coarse bulky denim-like hair can be made to feel silky and softer when cleansed and conditioned with P2 MoistureSheen and styled with P2 Potion for example, thus making the hair look and perform much better. These are not negative connotations just simply another tool to help guests understand where their hair is now and how they can achieve where they want their hairstyle to go!

Say WHAT?!?!  Water in P2 Xtreme?!  But WHY?

Posted on Posted in Chic Geek, Uncategorized

The Chic Geek by Nikki B. ~ Product Education Director

Why does P2 Xtreme contain a little bit of the finest water, known as Triple Distilled Water?  This formula needs that little bit of water to stay in solution and penetrate the hair most effectively.

Product Specialist and Southland Designer applying P2 Xtreme Daily Treatment

This is also why the hair must be damp for this totally unique product to penetrate effectively.  But FYI the hair-effective ingredients in P2 Xtreme account for about 98% of the formula so the formula is “xtremely” concentrated!

And one last note…Triple Distilled Water is the finest and most expensive water, containing no icons, no chemicals, no minerals.  This makes the formula more precise with great results!
