BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ 90’s Androgynous Look

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

Talk about fluid!  This shapeshifting Volumetric The Pelusi Method Haircut looks universally fantastic on both of these models crossing the lines between masculine and feminine.  They are totally twinning!  The layering system can be styled left to right or front to back depending on your style mood.  And it looks amazing with both the medium brunette and blonde hair colors.  Pretty cool, these looks were created in the 90’s by The Philip Pelusi Design Team (now know as The Trend Team @ Philip Pelusi).

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Neo Geo

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy, Uncategorized

Double vision?  This androgynous timeless Volumetric The Pelusi Method was created by none other than Philip Pelusi himself!

Philip shares, “I created it in 1975 inspired by the geometric look of Bauhaus Design Moment which is responsible for influencing all sorts of artists including architectural and clothing designers.  We like to say at Philip Pelusi we didn’t invent the haircut, we just made it better.”

Philip continues, “I call this look the shine of the times because it was styled and finished with a product that at that time was called Philip Pelusi Styling Lotion.  It was reformulated into the product we all now known as Polish.”

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Fauxhawk

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

Known as one of the very first “fauxhawks”, this look was created by Philip Pelusi himself at the Tela Design Studio in NYC circa 2005 but so timeless it looks like it was created today!

Philip shares, “I was honored, Modern Salon picked me to create this men’s look for their magazine cover in 2005.  I wanted this look to have a masculine, well-groomed yet modern, almost futurist, edge.  I sculpted and finished the look with our P2 Honey to get just the right texture and amount of hold.”

A Philip Pelusi “Did You Know?” ~ Timeless in Paris

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

The term “Chiaroscuro” (pronounced kee·aa·ruh·skyur·ow) is an Italian term referring to the use of light and dark shadowing in a painting or photo.  This is reflected in the composition and lighting in every aspect of this Philip Pelusi original design, from photo, hair color, even the clothing.  Philip played with shadows and light to complement the design as this model was actually sitting off stage waiting to go down the runway in Paris!  Thus, the theme Somewhere in Paris!

The hair and image were created in 1985 for the French magazine Coiffure de Paris and was shown locally too on The Pittsburgh Today Show on CBS.  Mind blowing fact…remember this image was created in 1985 so none of Philip’s photography was ever altered.  There was no retouching or Photoshop or apps (weren’t invented yet) used to enhance or alter the photo, hair, makeup, or clothing, everything in every image is all real!  Kinda wild when you think about it.

A Philip Pelusi “Did You Know?” ~ Simplicity at Its Finest

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

Philip Pelusi shares… “You may recognize this model from other past post and videos we’ve created.  This look represents one of over 10 different design looks from this one haircut!  The essence of this haircut is the “invisible” layering system, with no space between the layers.  This creates movement with unlimited styling potential while also preserving the texture of the hair which is baby fine.  Cutting to the fabric (texture) of the hair and understanding the natural fall lines is truly the essence of the Volumetric Pelusi Method of Haircutting and Design.  This amazing hair color and color placement really elevates the haircut and design.  Simplicity at its finest!”
