BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Mousse Call
Philip’s P2 Liquid Mousse is legendary. In the 80’s Philip created his first version of this formula (picture here) to give the hair maximum hold. A perfect fit for the ‘bigger hair the better’ styles of that time. It was coconut scented and was the first mousse to be packaged in an aerosol-free bottle. It contained a Silk Protein to help strengthen the hair and it still does to this day! But there’s more…
As with every Philip Pelusi formula, P2 Liquid Mousse has evolved in ingredient technology to flow with hair trends over the years. Today’s formula echoes the original formulation, meaning it can still be used like a traditional mousse. The packaging for example is still aerosol-free.
But no need to tip the bottle over, as Philip updated it to an easy to press and pump dispenser that literally blows bubble into the liquid formula as it leaves the bottle. This creates the foamy mousse feel but without any of the harmful or drying carcinogens that go along with aerosol dispensers. Plus, Philip created the original formula to be alcohol free and water soluble (means zero buildup after cleansing) and it still is today.
The formula has been updated too now with a softer hold containing Silk Protein, Calcium, Zinc and Yeast Protein Derivatives, Hydrating Proprietary Microemulsions, Sunscreen, Allergen Free White Tea and Thyme Fragrance plus it’s now Silicone-free!
Product Education Director Nikki shares, “The 1980’s version of Philip Liquid Mousse was my everyday go-to product to scrunch and style my hair. It totally fit my 80’s big hair vibe. The bottle was so cool, to apply you simply turned the bottle upside down and squeezed to get the liquid formula to turn into a foam. Everyone on my college dorm floor wanted to use it!”
