BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Natural Beauty

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

This stunning model with the most incredible natural texture hair was the subject of a Philip Pelusi photoshoot in the 90’s.  Keisha’s beautiful hair was a much-welcomed outlier in that she wore her hair in it’s perfect natural state during a time, the 1990’s, the hair trends definitely leaned mostly towards relaxed and blown out textured hair.

At Philip Pelusi, we love natural texture so there were many photos taken with this full voluminous look and others with this intricate coiled updo created by Sam C, circa somewhere in the 90’s.  Sam twisted and coiled her natural hair in and around these Italian hair coils, literally sculpting the updo like a renaissance sculpture.  It was a true work of living art!

Philip shares, “I am so honored and proud of the awesome contributions of our creative group.  And everything generated around one goal to elevate hair, our creative edge, to elevate the hair designer, and being part to a revolution that put hair dressing on the map!  We always thought of hair as a fabric and designed accordingly.  I am also so proud or our present Trend Team @ Philip Pelusi and all of our Talent Development Leaders and Designers for continuing to raise the bar of our salon collective.”

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ 80’s Haute Coiffure

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

Move over Belinda Carlisle (lead singer of The Go’s Go’s), your rad fauxhawk 80’s ‘do’ went upscale in the skilled haircutting hands of Philip Pelusi!  Philip, pictured here with his model, plied his mad Volumetric The Pelusi Method Haircutting Techniques to create a graduated laying system to uniquely support this upward direction of the hair.

This allows the Guest easier, faster styling replying more the cut itself instead of solely on products.  The hair looks healthy, soft and lux.  Philip set this trend early with this look circa 1980’s yet it remained popular for most of that decade…believe me know LOL.

Philip shares, “The Volumetric Haircut Techinique was the VoluRaising Razor Cut which created the great lift to the hair.  Such a unique way of supporting the direction and jump to the hair.  And the makeup was done by Kathy Cappello who toured with Prince for a seasons doing makeup for him and others in the band.  She is also the model in the photo with the longer big hair.”

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Glowing Angel

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

There are so many beautiful elements to this Philip Pelusi image from the late 1980’s.  Soft glowing makeup and lighting, feminine upswept hair, glossy bold lip color, the models elegant pose with seemingly praying hands and angelic expression.

And the most interesting element is the hairstyle, not a long hair updo that one might first surmise from the photo but instead an upswept shape created from a somewhat shorter layered Volumetric The Pelusi Method Haircut.

Philip shares, I used warm lighting for this to soften and reflect the mood to showcase the model’s inter as well as outer beauty.  The Volumetric Haircut layers refers reflect the versatility of the Pelusi Method Layering System on a mid-length bob with a 1 inch undercut to allow the hair to swing and be styled different ways.

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Ultra Modern Wedge

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

The year was 1969 when Philip got inspired to create this ahead of its time short wedge haircut on this beautiful natural texture hair.  The hair is a soft, structured sculpture that pairs perfectly with this model’s delicate feminine facial features.  Exquisite!

The wedge haircut was one of the hottest looks of the 70’s but as always Philip was designing this beautiful look years before plying his mad Volumetric The Pelusi Method Haircutting skills to achieve perfection!

Philip shares, “My inspiration was the natural texture haircut movement of the 70’s which was creating dynamic shapes uniting the hair shape with the fabric of the hair.  The natural curl trend exploded in popularity from the late 70’s into the 80’s.  It was a new beauty aesthetic pioneered by models and artists like Grace Jones.”

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ High Life

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

We are going back to the early 2000’s with this iconic photoshoot with Philip, Jeffrey R and Nikki B.  One model and 6 different looks with otherworldly hair and makeup.  Each look portraying a different mood and persona.  Simply put, a shapeshifter wearing multiple styles of hair, makeup and clothing.

Nikki shares, “This was one of our most creative shoots with makeup.  We wanted the looks to have an otherworldly feel.  I got a lot of inspiration from the original Blade Runner movie.  I loved Sean Young in her role as Rachael, a replicant.  The collaboration between Philip, Jeffrey and me, all of us such perfectionists, was so fun and we had an amazing time transforming this beautiful model into so many different looks.  She was like a chameleon with each outfit, hairstyle and makeup.”

BuZZworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ Le Petite Bob circa 1970’s

Posted on Posted in BuZZworthy

This look was created and photographed in the 1970’s but equally looks like it could have been created this week!  Philip’s work is so timeless, this look is all the buzz in today’s beauty blogs.  This also marked the introduction of the Philip Pelusi VoluWave Collection of perm formulations and techniques designed by Philip himself.  The Voluwave gave the texture but Philip created the cut with his Volumetric The Pelusi Method Haircutting System.

Philip shares, “This look was inspired by the Grecian and Roman Goddesses.  Creating modern and intricate shapes with texture and precise haircutting.  This design was natural dried using our Pelusi Styling Lotion which was similar to our Tela Curl of My Dreams and P2 ReCurl of today.  The rerm wash and wear hair was born!”
