“This androgynous design was inspired by the architectural principles of a commentary movement in design from the late 50’S to early 60’s and the MOD movement in fashion design by Mary Quant in London. Men had just started to let their hair grow out, and women began to cut their hair shorter. The was the beginning of the theme wash and wear hair. Roller sets, teasing, and stiff hair sprays all fell by the wayside with this movement. It was a great time of creativity and where the haircut was the design and working with the hair’s natural texture.”, shares Phillip Pelusi.
This landmark time in hair design also brought to the forefront of the international hair world groundbreaking artistic leaders and young hair designers Vidal Sassoon and Philip Pelusi and select others.
